Personalised 1:1 Personal Training

in Hitchin

Helping people move better, recover from injury, build strength and regain confidence…

Every person who walks through the doors of The Ferraro Method, our private personal training studio in Hitchin, has a different story.

Some arrive frustrated after months of pain. Others have lost confidence following an injury or surgery. Some want to lose weight, improve their strength or return to the activities they love. Others simply want expert guidance from a personal trainer in Hitchin who understands their body and their goals.

Whatever brings you here, our approach is always the same.

We begin by listening.

Before we prescribe a single exercise, we take the time to understand how your body moves, your injury history, your lifestyle and what you want to achieve. Every client starts with an assessment, allowing us to build a completely personalised programme that's tailored to the individual.

That means no generic gym programmes. No one-size-fits-all workouts. Just expert 1:1 personal training designed to help you move better, feel stronger and achieve long-term results.

Below are just a few of the incredible people we've had the privilege of working with, each with different goals, different challenges and their own unique story.

Recovering From a Hip Injury and Returning to Running

Injury Recovery • Strength Training • Running • MobilityThe Challenge

After suffering a hip injury and facing a number of other physical challenges, our client wanted one thing: to get back to running safely and feel confident in her body again. Simply exercising more wasn't the answer. She needed a programme that understood how her body moved and progressed at the right pace.

Our Approach

Following a detailed movement assessment, we created a personalised strength programme focused on improving mobility, stability and movement quality. Training just twice a week for 45 minutes, every exercise had a purpose and was progressed as her strength and confidence improved.

The Result

Just four months later, her physiotherapist confirmed she had made significant improvements and was ready to return to running and higher-impact activities. She now feels stronger, more mobile and more confident than ever.

"I've never trained less, just two 45-minute PT sessions a week, yet I've achieved some of the best results I've ever had. The trainers pay exceptional attention to technique and how exercises are combined, ensuring everything is purposeful. Their understanding of movement, breathing and progression is incredibly deep."

Recovering From an L5-S1 Disc Herniation

Back Pain • Sciatica • Strength & Conditioning

The Challenge

Following an L5-S1 disc herniation, this client was living with severe sciatic pain, muscle spasms and struggled with everyday movement. Running, rugby and even work became increasingly difficult.

Our Approach

Charlie gradually rebuilt strength, mobility and confidence while adapting the programme around the recovery of the injury. Every stage was tailored to how the body responded, allowing steady progress without aggravating symptoms.

The Result

Within a few months he was pain free, back running, playing rugby again and enjoying weekends without constant discomfort. He continues to train with Charlie to build strength and help prevent future injuries.

"Reaching out to the team was the best thing I did for my injury. Charlie was incredibly supportive from the start and adapted our programme as my recovery progressed. I noticed a difference in my pain levels almost immediately and was completely pain free within a few months."

Returning to Fitness After Having a Baby

Weight Loss • Strength • Confidence

The Challenge

After having her son, this client wanted to lose weight, rebuild confidence and feel stronger, but had never lifted weights before and found gyms intimidating.

Our Approach

Charlie introduced strength training gradually, creating sessions that built confidence as well as fitness. Every programme was tailored to her goals and progressed at a pace that felt achievable.

The Result

She now genuinely enjoys training, feels stronger than ever and has achieved things she never imagined when she first joined.

"Being a smaller gym makes such a difference. It feels friendly and relaxed, not intimidating. Charlie is a great mix of fun and motivating while also knowing exactly when to push me. Thanks to the team I'm now doing exercises I never thought I would, and I've lost weight and feel more toned than ever."

Rebuilding Strength After Surgery

Post Surgery • Dyspraxia • Core Strength

The Challenge

Six weeks after surgery to repair ligament damage caused by pregnancy, this client came to us wanting one thing: to feel like herself again. Living with dyspraxia meant balance and coordination had always been challenging, and after more than a year without proper exercise, rebuilding confidence was just as important as rebuilding strength.

Our Approach

Training began with rebuilding core strength and improving movement quality before progressing into full strength training. As confidence grew, sessions evolved into a long-term programme focused on maintaining strength and preventing future injuries.

The Result

She returned to an active lifestyle, regained confidence in her body and now continues to train weekly to stay strong for herself and her family.

"The calm, supportive and good-humoured environment made a huge difference. My goal wasn't aesthetic, it was simply to feel like myself again and be active with my children. That goal has been more than met, and as a bonus I genuinely don't think I've ever looked better."

Building Strength Through Menopause

Perimenopause • Hypermobility • Strength Training • Confidence

The Challenge

When this client joined The Ferraro Method, she wasn't looking for a dramatic transformation. As a woman in her mid-40s navigating perimenopause, she wanted support with her changing body, build strength safely and finally get on top of a hypermobile knee that had been causing ongoing pain.

Previous experiences with personal training had left her feeling uncomfortable, and she wasn't convinced PT was for her.

Our Approach

Andrea took the time to understand not only her goals, but how her body moved, adapting every session around her knee while gradually building strength and confidence. Rather than pushing through pain, the focus was on structured, progressive training that worked with her body, allowing her to feel stronger without worrying about making her knee worse.

The Result

Just a few months later, she was stronger, more confident and, most importantly, moving pain free. A recent hiking trip, something she had been worried about, became a huge milestone when she completed it without a single twinge from her knee.

"I originally wanted help with some health goals... mainly being a woman in my mid-40s, perimenopausal, with a slightly dodgy hypermobile knee that had been causing me ongoing grief. I'll be honest, I'd been put off PT for years after a previous experience where I just didn't feel comfortable. Andrea has been the complete opposite. He actually understands my knee, works around it and gives me structured sessions that are building strength and confidence without feeling like I'm about to break myself.

I am definitely not a natural gym loving person, but somehow I actually enjoy my sessions. The biggest thing for me though... I recently went away hiking and didn't have a single pang from my knee. Not one. Which honestly felt like a bit of a miracle. So something is clearly working... and my knee is definitely getting stronger."

Staying Strong as You Get Older

Healthy Ageing • Mobility • Independence

The Challenge

Getting older doesn't mean giving up the activities you love, but many people notice everyday tasks becoming harder. Whether it's climbing stairs, carrying shopping, gardening or keeping up with grandchildren, maintaining strength and mobility becomes increasingly important. Some clients also come to us after a new diagnosis, unsure how to exercise safely or where to begin.

Our Approach

We create personalised programmes that focus on functional strength, balance, mobility and movement quality. Every programme starts with an assessment, allowing us to build confidence alongside strength and adapt training around each person's needs and goals.

The Result

Our clients often tell us they feel stronger, fitter and more confident in everyday life. More importantly, they leave knowing they can continue doing the things they enjoy, with expert support behind them every step of the way.

"From the moment I met Charlie I knew we were going to be in good hands. My husband had been diagnosed with a neurological condition and we both felt daunted by the prospect of joining a gym. Charlie took the time to assess our needs and created a tailored programme that worked for us both. The physical progress has been clear, but more than that, it feels like a team of people supporting and encouraging us through the next stage of our lives."

Finding Routine Through Exercise

Mental Wellbeing • Strength • Community

The Challenge

Life can be busy, stressful and overwhelming. Sometimes people don't come to us because they want to lose weight or train for an event. They simply need somewhere positive to focus their energy, rebuild routine and do something for themselves.

Our Approach

Training provides structure, accountability and a supportive environment where clients can switch off from everyday pressures while working towards something positive. Every session is adapted to the individual and delivered with encouragement, humour and genuine care.

The Result

Many clients tell us they leave each session feeling physically stronger, mentally refreshed and better equipped to face the rest of the week.

"Ferraro Method is honestly a saviour for me. Charlie has been absolutely incredible. The crew and community are helping me through this time while pushing me to get stronger and fitter in the process."

Building Confidence in the Gym

Gym Anxiety • Beginners • Personal Training

The Challenge

Walking into a gym for the first time can feel intimidating. Many people put off starting because they worry they'll be judged, won't know what they're doing or simply won't fit in. Emma felt exactly the same. Previous gym experiences had left her feeling anxious, but she knew she wanted expert guidance and a programme that genuinely worked for her.

Our Approach

Everything started with an initial consultation, taking the time to understand Emma's training history, her goals and the challenges she'd experienced in the past. Charlie then created a personalised programme designed around her needs, gradually building confidence, strength and consistency in a supportive, encouraging environment.

The Result

Today, Emma genuinely looks forward to every session. She's stronger, more confident and has seen real progress, all while training in an environment where she feels completely supported.

"As someone who has often had gym anxiety in the past, The Ferraro Method is by far the most inclusive and welcoming gym atmosphere I have ever been in. From the very first consultation, where you're greeted by the loveable giant Rosa, Andrea took all my training history into consideration and really listened to what I needed. Charlie then created a tailored training plan that was built around my goals. I genuinely look forward to every session and always leave with a smile on my face. I've seen real progress since joining and constantly feel challenged whilst being supported 100%."
